Honda sees growing wings in business aviation

When he crossed the threshold of Honda Aircraft Company booth at EBACE business aviation held in Geneva until Wednesday, the visitor is first greeted by a car manufacturer of the third Japanese car.

Then appears the HondaJet painted red subsidiary of Honda Motor, determined to carve cruppers the American Cessna (Textron group) and Embraer on the market ; light business aircraft.

Honda has received over 100 orders for the seven-seat aircraft within three days after the program began in 2006 but has since remained quiet about the state of his book.

The Japanese embarked on a market segment that has especially suffered from the crisis of 2008, which does not seem unduly disturbing Michimasa Fujino, Honda Aircraft Company's CEO.

"The market for light aircraft is close to the automotive market in terms of business cycles," he said in an interview with Reuters. "Light aircraft are influenced by economic conditions, such as automobiles."

Honda plans to produce 20 units of its product by its first delivery scheduled for late 2013 and 50-70 in 2014, before reaching its cruising speed of a hundred a year from of 2015.

The manufacturer promises a device with a quieter and 20% fuel savings compared to competitive models.

"It's like cars: the cars more compact and more fuel efficient are the most popular," noted Michimasa Fujino.

Honda plans to take 10% of the market initially, and then award in the medium term from 15 to 20%.

Customers interested in the aircraft are not looking particularly to customize the cabin, as might be the case for larger aircraft, he noted.

"HondaJet design looks more like a car, which means that we try to provide an aircraft whose equipment is very complete," said Michimasa Fujino.

He believes the more the market potential of a light aircraft Bigger is not necessarily required for the path of a businessman going to a meeting by instance.

"It's like the car: you do not go necessarily to work with your large MPV", he said.

Michimasa Fujino said that companies were going more and more that have a light business jet they were very helpful.

"Perhaps the use of light aircraft will become more common in the future," he said. As for the car.

The good business plan of "The Artist"

With over 75 million dollars in revenue, "The Artist" is already highly profitable. But this should not stop there. Jean Dujardin with his Oscar for "The artist"

The phenomenal success of "The Artist" is obviously the happiness of the actors, director, writers, and especially of those who funded the film.

The least we can say is that the investment proves profitable. Approximately $ 15 million was spent on production, which must be added the 20 million needed for the promotion and distribution. And to date, the film has already earned $ 76.5 million worldwide.

Yet it is only the beginning, and we are moving towards more huge profits. Because different rewards, and in particular received five Oscars Sunday night, should significantly boost revenues. As highlighted in the newspaper Les Echoes, the example of "Chicago" in 2003 in this direction.

The musical was indeed the same level of income (about $ 75 million) as "The Artist" at the ceremony, where she had picked up six statues. The profits are then soared, reaching $ 307 million worldwide. Same conclusion with "The speech of a king", awarded last year and whose income totaled $ 414 million.

The box office, which currently amount to over two million in France, should experience a marked revival. United States also, and a little all over the world. While one should perhaps not be paid in the euphoria of the Atlantic, where the popularity of the film remains mixed.

The DVD, scheduled March 14, should also meet a great success. A nice bonus in preparation for Jean Dujardin and his cronies, who have not finished surfing on the wave of success.

First contraction in two years for the Spanish economy

The Spanish economy contracted in the fourth quarter of 2011, for the first time in two years, according to economists foreshadow a prolonged recession for the country, weighed down by fiscal austerity.

The gross domestic product (GDP) of Spain fell by 0.3% over the last three months of 2011 on a quarterly basis, after remaining stable at third quarter, according to official figures released Thursday.

On an annual basis, gross domestic product grew 0.3% from October to December, in line with expectations of economists polled by Reuters and after annual growth of 0.8% last quarter.

"Given the necessary fiscal consolidation in the country and the pressure this causes on domestic demand, it will be very difficult for Spain to avoid a recession," said Nick Matthews, economist for RBS.

The economy of the entire euro zone shrank by 0.3% over the last three months of 2011 and appears headed for a mild recession under the weight of the debt crisis, according to Eurostat figures published Wednesday.

These figures showed that Italy now responds like Belgium, Greece and Portugal to the technical definition of recession, with two consecutive quarters of decline in GDP.

In Spain, surveys by Markit purchasing managers to have shown a slight improvement in manufacturing activity and services in January, but this may not be sufficient to stimulate an economy mired in recession or stagnation for nearly five years.

Spain enjoyed a higher growth than its neighbors since joining the monetary union 12 years ago, but this expansion was largely due to a housing bubble, that erupted in 2007.

Over the full year 2011, the country recorded a growth of 0.7%, after contracting by 0.1% in 2010.

But in the fourth quarter of 2011, only exports continued to grow, and they are likely to suffer from the slump in global demand.

According to the International Monetary Fund, the country's economy expected to contract by 1.7% in 2012, mainly because of the austerity measures implemented by Madrid to avoid ê in turn be a victim of the debt crisis.

The new Spanish government seeks to reduce the budget deficit to 4.4% of GDP, as against 8% in 2011, which would require savings of about 45 billion euros.

Vinci said Tuesday expect a stabilization of its operating margin in 2012 to its 2011 level, in a context of expected stagnation in activity due to economic uncertainty in Europe.

The world leader in construction and has made concessions in 2011 a turnover of 36.96 billion euros, above the consensus of seven analysts gave 36.41 billion euros.

The Group turnover increased by 10.7%, higher than the growth "of about 7%" he anticipated so far.

Operating profit from ordinary activities (ROPA) group has meanwhile increased by 6.6% to 3.66 billion euros, according to the consensus, and gives a margin of 9, 9%.

"The margin ROPA / CA was 9.9% of sales, against 10.3% in 2010. This was due to the increased weight of the contracting industry in the total ('mix effect'), "Vinci said in a statement

…. The contracting activity ….. includes the construction and energy, one of two core businesses of Vinci near concessions, including motorway (ASF, Escota, Cofiroute and Arcour)

. The first pole represents 85% of sales but only 39% of operating profit of Hence the group's ambition to increase the weight of concessions in its business by purchasing an existing business, including Vinci airport assets

. was in line to the airports offered for sale by Hochtief of Germany, but it has recently suspended the tender because of the Greek crisis – including Hochtief wants to sell the airport Athens. According to sources familiar with the matter, it is now well positioned to take 40% of the first Turkish airport operator, TAV Havalimanlari.

UNCERTAINTY IN EUROPE

For 2012, the group plans "at least a stabilization of its activity" in a context marked by economic growth prospects more uncertain in Europe and a possible slowdown in orders on the continent in some segments or certain geographical areas.

In late January, the CEO, Xavier Huillard, had told Reuters that order intake in France may be less strong in the coming months because of questions about the financing community.

"The group remains confident and sets the objective to maintain its operating margin rate compared to good levels reached in 2011," continued Vinci.

It accounts for it on a slight increase in toll revenue and enters the year with a backlog of 30.6 billion euros in the contracting business, up 18% and its highest level ever.

"The position of the strong order book underpins their forecasts," said one industry analyst who requested anonymity. "In general, comments on 2012 are reassuring, we think that in the current action is interesting that these figures should cause a positive reaction tomorrow to scholarship. "

Before this publication, the action of the group closed at 36.83 euros (-0.37%), giving a market capitalization of 20.87 billion. Since the beginning of the year, the stock rose 9.1% after dropping 17% in 2011.

Vinci, who reached last year's net income, group share, of € 1.9 billion (+7.2%), proposes a dividend of 1.77 euro per share (6.0%) for the past year.

His group's net debt, largely inherited from the acquisition of French motorways during their privatization in 2005, declined last year by 3.6% to 12.59 billion euros.
